Post core retreat, the crew gathers to work on the bangka, sharing stories circled around the red western cedar log amidst scent of sage in the air, the bangka pamilya, the bang family gathers, ready to work together in a grand coalition of california natives, filipino americans and mixed heritage folks – isang dugo, one blood, all our relations. Nourished with local sweet pears fresh from the tree, tsokolate biko (chocolate sweet sticky rice), local sacred healing water (tubig in pilipino) blessed the bangka and its worker bees, quenches our thirst and our soul; chicken stew and organic black rice from bohol filled our tummies before the night falls into the next super moon
