Dd is for Francisco Dagohoy

We celebrate the 4th letter of the Bisayan alphabet and honor the longest revolt in Bohol led by a babaylan, Francisco Dagohoy, learn more about the THE DAGOHOY REBELLION 1744–1829. I remember as a youngster marching along a song about him by a Boholano, Yoyoy Villame.

K, k – the 3rd letter in the Sugboanon Bisaya alphabet; pronounced as ‘ka.’ (as defined in the book, kapulongnan bisinisay-ininglis by jes b. tirol, phd, unang pagsudhi (first edition) 2010. my last name is spelled with the letter ‘C’; just curious when the change from K to C happened as i wonder about the ‘kasko’ of our family tree.

kasko – 1) the hull or backbone of a boat or ship 2) a type of boat carved out from one tree trunk

kagawasan – freedom, liberty. Malipayong Adlaw sa Kagawasan! Happy Independence Day!

katig – outrigger of boats. it serves to maintain the balance of the boat
