balik sa dagat. return to the sea

i am constantly learning about the ‘old ways’ and the modern ways; being in the moment, in the present. learning how to make i-movies. it is fun but having supportive sounds and audio-visual support is the best. but i feel like i haven’t slept in a week, the clock ticks and tocks, clicks and tocks; meanwhile kitty jojoh slumbers noisily. i am rejuvenated by a couple of slices of green pie – homemade pie with avocados, cream and lime juice topped with fresh hand-whipped cream; thoughts flutter, questioning, are these made from hands of descendants of island slaves? illegitimate children of the church? we are reunited in good spirits of the tropical island paddles, luzviminda i call them, cradled by the fallen late autumn leaves by the northern creek, where the king salmon swam upstream just recently, my frozen barefeet atop the buwaya in the icy cold creek, offerings of peace, of thanks, prayers for a floating bangka to be….a call out to the community. help us heal and rebuild, balik sa dagat.
