Revisiting the peace bangka

this bangka girl has been busy with work travels and organizing. Now taking some time to reflect back on recent events such as the implementation of the peace bangka peace canoe curriculum for NAPIESV’s 2nd Summit held last Aug 29, 30 and 31, 2014 in Emeryville, California.
It is an honor to continue to be part of this healing journey. Participants wove the basketful of threads from their struggles, their resistance and strength into woven art and artistic vessels launched in a celebration of movement. Folks from New Mexico, New York, Southern California, the Bay Area and as far as Saipan attended the 3 day intensive labor of love working weekend to join efforts on ending sexual violence in the Asian Pacific Islander communities. Many thanks to NAPIESV and its organizers – Mira Yusef, Nina Jusuf, and the collaborative efforts with AF3IRM, Amita Swadhin, Banteay Srei of Oakland, Mia Mingus and Alexis Canillo and Nestor Perez of Balik sa Dagat Bangka Journey for a successful event. ~ leng leng
